Gaia Institute Wellness Center is an official sponsor of the annual World T'ai Chi Day Health Festival.

Looking for a calm place in the middle of life’s storms?

Want to enhance your health?

Want to improve everything you do?

T’ai Chi Ch’uan is an ancient, non-violent martial art. The movements are derived from Chi Gong, a Chinese Discipline that is the foundation of Chinese Medicine.

This discipline involves the control of mind, breath, and slow, relaxed movement, which when harmonized, creates a calm natural balance of energy. T’ai Chi is designed to uncover and release every single place we hold tension or blocked energy.

Viewed as one of the most effective mind/body exercises in the world, T’ai Chi is safe, low impact, requires no equipment, and can be performed almost anywhere by anyone at any age and in any condition or state of health. T’ai Chi is practiced by 20 per cent of the world’s population and is considered the most popular exercise in the world today. T’ai Chi provides more medical benefits than other single exercise. T’ai Chi goes right to the source of most health problems by relaxing the muscles and mind, aligning the spine and posture.

  • The World Health Organization officially endorsed T’ai Chi Ch’uan as "the best health maintenance program in the world."

  • National Institutes of Health has officially endorsed T’ai Chi Ch’uan as "the best prevention and intervention of falls and fall related injuries."

  • National Institutes of Health has declared that a community based T’ai Chi Ch’uan program could reduce falls, fall related injuries, and related medical expenses by 47 per cent.

  • Dr. Christine Nevin-Woods, Director of Pueblo City County Health Department, states "T’ai Chi is a wonderful way for seniors, and the rest of us, to work on balance, strength, and flexibility."
